In this occasion, students from the IFROS and MIRS Master’s programs had the opportunity to host Carles Matabosch, Senior Manager Engineering at Cognex. Cognex is the world’s leading provider of vision systems, software, sensors, and industrial barcode readers used in manufacturing automation.
The presentation aimed to explain Cognex’s 3D laser triangulation camera by showcasing an example of the 3D technology behind it. Concepts related to acquisition, such as laser triangulation, laser noise, and misalignment corrections, were discussed. Processing-based concepts, such as pattern alignment to compensate for different positions of the part to be inspected, were also explained. The session included a live demonstration of Cognex’s 3D vision technology, providing students with a firsthand experience of its capabilities.
The interaction with Mr. Matabosch offered students valuable insights into the latest advancements in industrial vision technology, equipping them with knowledge relevant to their future careers in manufacturing.
