The third cohort of the Erasmus Mundus master’s program Intelligent Field Robotic Systems (IFRoS) are currently divided into the University of Zagreb (UNIZG) and Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) for their third semester. IFRoS 3 students had the opportunity to came together again in Zagreb from October 7th to 10th, 2024, during the DroneDays workshop, an internationally recognized event hosted by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing at UNIZG.
IFRoS students were highly engaged throughout the event, attending various high-level talks covering a wide range of drone-related topics. These included insights into drone use for public safety, emergency response, firefighting, wildlife conservation, and precision mapping. Presentations also addressed the integration of drones in education, new technologies and startups, as well as the challenges faced by small and medium-sized enterprises in adopting drone technology. Additionally, panel discussions focused on the future of the drone industry and the application of autonomous multirobot systems in critical domains like surveillance and intervention.
In addition to the presentations, the students participated in two intensive training sessions on Multi-Sensor Multi-Object Tracking and Ultra Wide Band (UWB) Localization, where they actively applied their coding skills.
Despite the intensive schedule, students managed to complete all tasks, showcasing their dedication and teamwork. Following a brief tour of Zagreb on Wednesday, many of them boarded the bus to Budapest, where they are continuing their studies at ELTE—likely catching up on some well-deserved rest along the way!
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the students for their enthusiasm and active participation. A special thank you also goes to our partners at UNIZG and ELTE for their excellent organization, which made this reunion and fruitful learning experience possible.
This workshop was not only a valuable educational experience but also a great chance for our students to reconnect and strengthen their international bonds. We believe it has further enriched their academic journey, exposing them to high-level conferences and cutting-edge drone research.
