Summer internship at Paltech by David Ceres

David Ceres, an IFRoS student promotion 2023-2025, completed a summer internship at Paltech GmbH, working on autonomous weed removal robots. He expresses his gratitude for the IFRoS program’s flexibility and strong network in facilitating this valuable experience. Read about his contributions and the people who made it memorable below.

“I want to take a moment to thank the IFRoS Master program for creating such amazing opportunities for its students. Thanks to the program’s flexibility and strong network, I had the privilege of completing a summer internship at Paltech GmbH, where I worked on autonomous weed removal robots.

As a robotics intern, I had the chance to apply theoretical knowledge and gain practical insights into the complexities of communication protocols for motor control and the critical role robust systems play in autonomous robotics. My primary focus was software development, where I built a ROS 2 wrapper to control multiple motors using the CANopen communication protocol.

I feel incredibly fortunate to have met and worked with such passionate and talented people during this experience. Felix Schiegg, thank you for pushing the boundaries of autonomous vehicles. Umar, Jorge, Minh, and Nicole, I’m grateful for the supportive and inspiring work environment you created. Jonathan and Tomás, thank you for the unforgettable experiences outside the office and for being wonderful travel companions. And Fatima, it was a joy to share this journey as a fellow master’s student, your support and camaraderie made it even more meaningful.

Looking forward to more opportunities like this in the future!”
